Commercial skip accuracy after update?

Commercial skip has been really good the last few months, but the last week or so I've been seeing it cut off larger chunks of the shows and leaving in more commercials. It seems like I have to edit the commercials on almost every new episode.

Is it just me? Any chance it's related to the recent stable update? I tried searching for other posts like this, but I didn't see any with the same issue.

I agree, it's not as good as it used to be. I seem to recall an update to the commercial skipping process.

I've also noticed the commercial detection isn't as good as it used to be.

Same here very inconsistent.

I made this change and re-ran the ones that marked parts of shows as commercial and it works much better ...

I have also noticed commercial skipping does not work as good as it once did.
It will show all the commercial "gaps" but it plays the first one,
IF I click to advance it then says the Commercial Skip message and skips.
I am on the Stable release 1-23-23
I'm sure they will fix it.

Nice! What does that change do exactly? Set the minimum time for a commercial before it considers marking it as the main show content? The entire comskip feature just seems like voodoo to me. I have no idea how to configure its magic, and I was relying on the relatively consistent experience I was getting for the last few months.

I suspect broadcasters are getting wise to hacking commercial skip, and including things like changes to logo size and position, and black transition screens to trick us into seeing their ads with the show. Maybe that's what's really breaking comskip?

I agree! ...as long as they know about it. I want to say I had a similar experience around August or September 22', but after another update all of a sudden comskip was much improved. Fingers crossed improvements to comskip are coming.

min_commercialbreak=25 (0 - MAXINT)
;The minimum duration in seconds of any commercial break, that is a sequence of blocks regarded as commercial
