This may be my imagination or a coincidence. I recently upgraded from the 2022.10.03.2116 stable release to the 2022.10.18.0345 pre-release. Coincident with this, the commercial skip accuracy seems to have degraded significantly.
We have the KTLA Morning News on pretty much all morning. Prior to the update, the commercial skip seemed spot-on. After the upgrade it always seems to start the skip a second (or fraction of a second) early and end it early too. The commercial detection also seems to be missing more commercial breaks or getting fooled in the middle of one. I think this is happening equally with both live detection and post-recording detection. The issue is not limited to KTLA News, but since we have it on so much, it is a good reference.
I'm pretty anal about missing part of a show, so I've always used manual skip. A couple of weeks ago, the political commercials finally got to me, so I turned autoskip on. I was pretty impressed with the accuracy. Now, not so much.
If there have been no changes to the version of comskip or the settings between these two releases, then I'll accept that it is just a coincidence. I'm posting this in case anyone else has noticed a similar degradation recently.
