When I record movies and shows on Hallmark channels the Commercials all start skipping early and end early. I don’t seem to have this problem with any other channels.
I can fix this by going to the server and run the redetection. Can this be adjusted somehow? Or have the server automatically run detection in batch at a particular time of day or for everything in movies or shows with one click?
@dschaper and @mtnbkr60 reported this too. That channel uses a smart ad detect which isn't working correctly.
Do you know exactly how many seconds its off by, and is it always the same?
It appears to be 1-1.5 seconds before the fade to a short 1 second black space. They seem to be consistently the same times each time.
The redetection fixes the problems.
I tried a new recording and I get a very consistent 3 seconds of missed program on either side of the break.
I'll pull a couple of recordings and check for the single black frame trick again.
Yes, I love Channels so much that I'll torture myself in to watching Hallmark...
Is there any update on this? Commercial re-detection does work, but why doesn't it work the first time?
Because the first marking of commercials Channels does instantly using its own algorithm regarding which server the stream portions come from, along with other heuristics.
The second pass runs the actual Comskip program, which is a different program.
