What exactly is Regenerate Video Index and Fix Video Timestamps?
I've looked through the forum and get many hits off topics and the Support articles doesn't give me results for what this feature is used for and in what cases for why.
in Quotes, I get no articles found. Without quotes in support articles, I get again many articles with the words but not the topic.

The video index is used to speed up playback, especially remotely. This happens automatically while recording.
The fix timestamps option is used to repair timestamps in some cases where the recording has become corrupted. You shouldn't need to use this, as it will be run automatically if this situation is detected.
I typically export to videoredo and import back imports folder and rarely use away from home so neither of these should be an issue for me I’m assuming
If you process recordings with VideoRedo it will fix timestamp issues as it saves.
When you import local content, Channels will create a video index on import.
So no need to touch either of those.
