Comskip failing

Was there a recent change to com skip recently? I see in the logs that it basically gives up after it takes longer than 30 minutes. This is probably too short a setting for me as im running on a pretty basic ARM NAS. It would normally take a while, but generally I didn’t care as it was just taking up 1 of my cores which left plenty of CPU to be serving files. Can I adjust this setting somewhere?

Thanks!

Can you check the logs to see how long it was taking previously? I am going to increase the timeout from 30m to something longer.

Sure give me a few minutes. Im most concerned about football games that are upwards of 3 hours long…so im sure it probably takes a few hours to chew through that.

Yea as expected a football game for me takes a bit over a couple hours. Usually around 2 hours and 15 minutes. Thats the longest recordings I have by far.

Thanks, I was planning to cap it at 3 hours

That sounds good. Thanks for the quick response

Yeah, 30 minutes for me on my Synology DS416play is too short. After the last update most of the comskips for any show over an hour fail. The few that do pass are right around the 27 minute mark.

When will an update be pushed out to increase the timeout?

instead of hardcoding the value, maybe an option in the DVR of “Comskip Time Limit” with options of none,30,60,120,180,240 defaulting to 180.

My Synology DS416play is also suffering. Have checked the logs and it is failing at 30 minutes.

Please fix soon.

This will be fixed tomorrow. Sorry for the delay, I had some family in town visiting.

I too have seen comskip failing recently but I’m not sure where I would see the cause… Where are the logs that you are looking at (/Channels DVR/Logs/comskip/###?) and what in the log file are you looking for? I skimmed a little but didn’t see anything alarming.

-or if there’s another thread/page to explain logs that’s fine too… I didn’t find one-

Logs are available via the tab at the top right of the Channels DVR web UI.

New build is now available.
