Not sure what is going on but commercials have been working just fine until recent. Now, most of the shows jump into commercial way too early. I am going to have to go back from auto skip to manual due to missing part of the show/movie prior to the commercial. Has anything changed that would cause this issue?
Along with the above and complicating the issue, the cursor lags.
So when your trying to place the cursor to the proper starting point and click the cursor jumps to a point you did not intend.
Could be caused by comskip's trouble recognizing show promos. Those ads have characteristics similar to the show itself, for example they have the network logo. Some networks have been moving the logo around lately, and there are a lot of network show promos at the beginning of each season. So that could be the cause. Or not. But I've been doing a lot of manual editing lately.
Amazing how different my experience is as it's working the best ever for me. The channel and source will help the developers figure out what is going on.

However the developers are just using a 3rd party program and I doubt there is much that can be done. i could even provide the log files and anything else if that would help.
In my experience, the settings that Channels uses are a pretty good balance. If you are interested in fine-tuning Comskip, then you can check their forum for tips on how to tweak the detection:
thank you, i'll have to look into that. it wasn't an issue until recently.
Is your source for that TVE or an HDHR tuner?
I've noticed lately (past 3 months or so) that comskip markers are way off on some recordings, so I'm sure it's either the networks trying to foil ad detection or trying to fit more commercials in the time slots.
Using home run for that show at least. But wife said she noticed it on other shows. not sure of those were HR or TVE. I just. turned off auto skip for now. not sure if broadcasters are doing something odd to mess things up or not. But I don't think channels is using the most current comskip either and not sure why.
I would say over the last year the results from comskip have been getting worse.
I's not Channels DVR or comskip causing it.
It's the networks/broadcasters.
I even had a PBS recording yesterday where comskip marked some of the program as commercial.
Channels DVR uses the donator version 0.82.005
I think @tmm1 even modified that one for use in Channels.
Latest release from late 2019 is 0.82.010
I don't see anything in the release notes that would help it detect commercials better.
