Is the a comskip setting that would catch these types of screens? I am finding that comskip is not identifying it as a commercials. While “technically” it is not a commercial, it is very annoying when you have auto commercial skip on and it skips your whole program.
I agree. It's annoying. Might be best to ask this question over in the comskip forums.
Has anyone managed to modify the comskip configuration to account for this? It works much better for me than the OP describes, at least on channels like CNN via TVE, but it's still very hit-or-miss. I see a few mentions of this issue here and in the comskip/MCEBuddy forums, but the most common response is to simply disable commercial skipping for those channels. I find that it's at least 50% effective by itself at finding the black screen/logo sequences, and then I can often improve the result by manually re-marking commercials/show.
Before I dig into the comskip.ini parameters, I'm hoping that someone has already found settings that are more effective.
There's very little going on over there and I was hoping that the expansion of TVE in Channels would spur more interest from folks here. In any case, I can check there.
