Connecting from laptop

first i'm a plex convert thats loving channels so far and it's been pretty easy to get up and running.
I'm searching first but pardon if i look dumb at this i am. having two issues mainly. connecting to my channelsdvr.net from another pc yeilds this error.

This site can’t be reached

bd4caea5595e.u.channelsdvr.net refused to connect.

Try:

ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

everything appears ok on the security side.

also recording a show i'm getting an error, i'll have to retrieve the log about that. but the failed recordings i see no way to delete the scheduled recording for them, how is this done ?

I'll send the log along shortly.

It appears you don't have Remote DVR set up correctly. Check the Troubleshooting page under Support in the navigation, it can help show what might be going on. You can also submit logs from that page.

Here's documentation on setting up Remote DVR:

thanks for getting back to me here is where it is getting confusing. let me tell you a little about my setup. I have an xfinity router the mac mini is plugged into it. I also have google nest mesh router and access points. The xfinity has one wifi ID and the Nest another. I've plugged my HD Homerun 4k into the nest router so that when i stream it it identifies as the same ID as my accesspoints because. its a stronger signal as both are in my media room in the basement. but i would imagine i still need to do the port forwarding on the xfinity router and not the mesh? Sorry i'm kinda new to all this mesh stuff

On portchecker.co it should say 8089 as open

On your xfinity router you need to setup a DMZ to the nest router

On the nest router you need to setup port forwarding to the dvr mac

good god... hmm what if i just put the hd connect back to the xfinity router?

Then your dvr won't be able to access it. The DVR and your clients and the hdhomerun have to be on the same network.

yeah i understand all that but getting it to all work so remove the port forwarding from the xfi then

Your routers are chained so your forwarding has to be chained too.

The first router sends the port to the second router, the second router sends it to the dvr

yeah i'm making progress thanks for all your help,

I setup the dmz, now on my google router im not seeing the mac mini listed to port forward i set the hd homerun and all the other devices, now i have the macmini going via ethernet to the xfinity router and the wifi turned on the google nest wifi. the hd homerun is plugged via cable to the goole routers ethernet port

i'm thinking i should plug the mac mini into the google router and the hd homerun into the mac mini

As I mentioned before, all your devices need to be plugged into the same place. If you split them up its not going to work.

Just food for thought. I don't know how deep you are in the xfinity stuff. And you could lose some functionality if you have tv and security stuff setup. But if you only have internet and will say phone with them. You could set your router into bridge mode. This in essence turns the router into a modem. You plug your xfinity router to your nest. (this means only your nest router and not other devices) Get a switch for your nest and plug all your stuff into that from your nest router. That way you only have one router active. Like I said just a thought. I don't know the limitations of your setup and location of things.

Yeah thats a thought not sure how to just bridge it thou

What’s the purpose of the nest? Sounds like you need a switch plugged into the xfinity and everything plugged into the switch. Put the nest in ap mode if it is for wifi

Google WiFi can't mesh in bridge mode

I've had mine in bridge mode since I installed it.

I got an xb3 router due to their awesome cap and having to get the xfi complete to get unlimited data so Channels can fly around in the clouds. Their router was so dang slow to change or create reserved IP's , I gave up on it and switched it to bridge mode and now using a pfsense router to do it all. In 2021 you shouldn't have to wait 5 minutes for a single ip reserve for a local ip address. That was the main reason to do bridge mode in the first place. So xfinity router turned into a modem, pfsense router connected to a switch and it feeds throughout the house from their. An asus router in the living room switch to an AP where I am most of the time for wifi that plugs into another swtich. It also reaches all parts of the house having it in the living room. No need for all these little mesh hot spots all over the house. Best setup I have had since getting two phone lines for dial up haha.

well its all working and the diagnostic gives me a good on everything including outside access. but i still cannot access my.channesdvr.net. also i need to use the google mesh or it cannot stream 1080p vid

Did you put your Xfinity Gateway into bridge mode?
If so, did you create a port-forwarding rule for Channels DVR on your router?

no because i need a switch to plug in the devices into the google router
