Connecting from laptop

Yeah thats a thought not sure how to just bridge it thou

What’s the purpose of the nest? Sounds like you need a switch plugged into the xfinity and everything plugged into the switch. Put the nest in ap mode if it is for wifi

Google WiFi can't mesh in bridge mode

I've had mine in bridge mode since I installed it.

I got an xb3 router due to their awesome cap and having to get the xfi complete to get unlimited data so Channels can fly around in the clouds. Their router was so dang slow to change or create reserved IP's , I gave up on it and switched it to bridge mode and now using a pfsense router to do it all. In 2021 you shouldn't have to wait 5 minutes for a single ip reserve for a local ip address. That was the main reason to do bridge mode in the first place. So xfinity router turned into a modem, pfsense router connected to a switch and it feeds throughout the house from their. An asus router in the living room switch to an AP where I am most of the time for wifi that plugs into another swtich. It also reaches all parts of the house having it in the living room. No need for all these little mesh hot spots all over the house. Best setup I have had since getting two phone lines for dial up haha.

well its all working and the diagnostic gives me a good on everything including outside access. but i still cannot access my.channesdvr.net. also i need to use the google mesh or it cannot stream 1080p vid

Did you put your Xfinity Gateway into bridge mode?
If so, did you create a port-forwarding rule for Channels DVR on your router?

no because i need a switch to plug in the devices into the google router

Most likely it is a Nat reflection issue. You cannot go outside your network to come back in. My.channelsdvr.net is resolving to your external ip. Try navigating to the internal ip while you are inside your network. Https://192.x.x.x:8089

What happens if you turn off WiFi on your phone and use cellular data to go to my.channelsdvr.net

if i turn off wifi and use cellular i can connect to my.channelsdvr.net

Your xfinity router does not support hairpin Nat so when you want to access the dvr web ui from within your network you will need to use the Mac ip:8089 in the browser. It appears you have the router port forwarding correct. Until you can get all your stuff on a single network you are going to have issues. Either bridge the xfinity and port forward on the nest or ditch the nest

thanks for all the help I appreciate it

I don't own a Google wifi unit, but I googled them (actually used DuckDuckGo).
I would assume it has two network ports on it.
One for WAN which would plug into your xfinity gateway.
One for LAN which would plug into a gigabit switch.
Then plug your wired devices, like HDHR tuner, Channels DVR server and whatever else into the gigabit switch.
Enable bridge mode on the Xfinity gateway.
Power cycle your Google wifi units.
Toggle remote access off & on in the Channels DVR server and it should work.

yes that seems the way to go, any suggestions on a swith i found a few up on amazon. For now its working pretty well direct to the xfinity, if that goes south then i will have to go the way of the switch

Everyone has their favorite brands.
Personally I've been using a Netgear ProSAFE GS108 8 port switch.

I can vouch for the Netgear ProSAFE GS108. It was super solid for me as well. I did however upgrade to ubuiqiti when I needed more ports and it’s great as well. Pricier though

I also tried a lot of other switches, including some "Green" ones and found them unreliable.
I can't vouch for this one personally, but trust their products

And here's the one I'm using

I am not a big fan of the gs series for netgear. I got tired of them not picking up the correct speed for network links. meaning it picking 100 over 1000 at times. I ended up going to managed switches after that. Hopefully they fixed their issues with the 24 port gs series ;-(

Like I said, everyone has their favorite brands.
I've been using the GS108 and a GS105 for about 5 years with no issues.
The only time I power cycled them was when I replaced my UPS batteries.
Also using a Ubiquity ER-X for my managed switch needs.
