Connection Blocked by UniFi router

Somehow my connection to Channels DVR gets blocked by UniFi UDM when I connect using Starlink. It works fine when connecting through fiber or 5G from the same exact place (Europe). I've managed to connect from a browser using IPv6, but I cannot authorize iOS/tvOS clients. Anybody has the same experience with Starlink? (I have some Country Restrictions turned on, but only form countries on the "usual suspects" list - and anyway, it does not block the connection other than when originated via Starlink)

I use a UniFi UDM as well -- with 5G, fiber and Starlink. And, I spend a good chunk of the year in Europe. However, my setup is different in that my primary U.S. Internet is fiber with Starlink as the backup. Access from Europe is via fiber and 5G in a load sharing configuration.

I use Tailscale for all remote access now, and would highly recommend it. I haven't had any issues whether I'm accessing via my primary fiber or backup Starlink. Both work great, though Starlink is slower. My Tailscale setup has an exit node running at my U.S. residence, and so all of my traffic is from the same static IP no matter where I am.

Doing it his way, I rarely need to re-authenticate anything, and have no issues with geo-restricted content.

I'm on the same boat, streaming from Europe with my server in the US. But in my case the server is fiber (Fios + Xfinity backup), and Starlink in Europe. Funny thing, I haven't had any issues connecting behind Starlink´s CGNAT until a couple of days ago. Now the UDM at US blocks the connection and tags it as a potential threat, even though port forwarding is set up and no Western European country is blocked in Country Restrictions. Maybe it's a UniFi thing, I haven't been able to get to the bottom of it.

Tailscale is indeed a very good option (I use it for server maintenance, etc) but I don't want my whole Apple TVs to go through VPN. Thanks!

Enable tailscale on the channels server and then connect your appletv client and use your channels servers tailscale ip. Only that traffic will route through the tunnel.

Force routing only happens when you are connecting to an exit node.

Thanks for the advice! Will I need more bandwidth for Channels streaming once it goes through the VPN? Can I add a local HDHR tuner at the same Apple TV network?

No more than without a VPN

Do you mean that your AppleTV's are remote and you want to have them watch just live TV from a HDHR on the same network? If so yes I have heard of this working (no recording just live TV)

Since I already had TailScale 8with local subnets) in both local and remote sites, I ended up setting up a new local Channels DVR server pointing at the remote HDHR channels (via Custom Channels) and to the local HDHR. I'll do the same, inversely, at remote location when I'm there. All clients look snappier. Thanks!
