Connection Lost Error

Watching on ATV - live TV we seem to get every so often (only when wife is watching) the infamous “Connection to Tuner Lost” error.

DVR setup: Ubuntu 17.10, Celeron 3GHz, 16GB RAM
DVR version: 2017.09.01.513

ATV version - either current version or latest beta

HD HomeRun CONNECT w/latest firmware
HD HomeRun HDHR dual w/latest firmware - not enabled

1.) what causes this? 2.) what do you need from us to help troubleshoot?

You can try turning off the “Tuner Sharing” option on the Settings tab of the app. This will make the ATV talk to the HDHR directly, and might help when watching live TV if there’s a bad connection between your DVR and the HDHR.

In your DVR logs, its showing “3s read timeout” and “807: No Video Data” which means the tuner stops sending a signal and then on reconnect its not getting any video data from the antenna. Is it only happening on NBC?

I would check where the NBC tv tower is and see if your antenna can be pointed in a better direction.

My antenna will eventually be 10’ higher but in the same location. FOX is the only station we cannot get due to terrain.

NBC runs at 85% signal quality currently. I believe another 10’ will get a cleaner sky view -

What is generally the quality cut-off level?

We watch NBC 80% of the time so testing is skewed…

My Linux box is currently behind a 1G switch port and the HD CONNECT is located behind another 1G switch.

My ATVs are on 5GHz with fairly good signals - unfortunately no way to get them wired…

I’m getting this problem now too, originally I thought it was limited to live on my ATV4K, but now live via webUI fails fairly quick as well as recordings are failing midway through. I can’t quite pinpoint when this started, but I was able to watch live for a few hours last Sunday error free. I’ve run new cable from my HDHR’s to my gigabit switch but that hasn’t helped.

The error is the same each time:

Check the “system log” on your HDHR to see if it shows any errors there.

Nothing other than:

HTTP: rejecting request from 10.0.1.6 - all tuners in use

a couple times and

Tuner: tuner1 http stream ended (remote closed)

at roughly the time the recordings/live are stopping.

Edited to add: HDHomerun app seems to work fine with live from a quick test.
