Connection Lost - New User

Good morning,

I keep running into the Connection Lost when I'm watching TV. Normally it happens after watching a channel for a while.

Apple TV 4K - PreRelease GetChannels -M1 Mac mini (with ethernet plugged in).

It happens on both LOCAST and FUBOTV channels.

And this is the log from yesterday. Kept happening

My first guess is that your internet connection may be flaking out. I would recommend setting up a continuous ping test to the internet from your Mac mini and see if you’re seeing any packet loss.

Since those are all internet streams, it most likely comes down to one of two possibilities:

  1. Your connection to the streams is being interrupted/dropped; or,
  2. There is a problem with the website not having the next segment(s) of the stream available, and so it ends the connection.

In either situation, there really isn't much you can do specifically. However, there is one way to mitigate the problem: set the program to record, and then watch the recording. That way the DVR server will continuously try to resume the connection, regardless of why it ended, for the duration of the program.

Yes, that's not a true solution. And yes, it is a bit hack-y. But on the plus-side, it will get rid of those "Connection Lost" issues; instead you may get a pause/stutter, but playback ought to continue.

I get it most of the time watching TVE channels from the DVR web UI player.
I pick something from the grid guide and it plays fine until the next program is due to start.
The player window closes and the log shows the same as yours, closed connection.

Happened again tonight watching FS2 Cable from an HDHR Prime source.
12am rolled around and the live tv view video window just suddenly closed.
One of the reasons I don't use Channels DVR for Live TV...
