In addition to what the developer said , all 6 of your boxes look square, like 4:3 aspect ratio square;
We live in a 16:9 world now....
I agree that 3x3 might be too much for some reason however having a layout with six (or eight) screens would be a nice addition. The layout I presented was not to scale and to just give an idea of what I am talking about.

just how big are your iPad screens?
I use Apple TV connected to 77 inch TV
Pretty sure there's no Apple TV hardware out there that can do 6 or 8 streams concurrently.

On the weekends I easily stream 8 concurrently (can do 9 but not a fan of the 3x3x3 layout).
The Channels developers have done a remarkable job with the 4 stream, really wish they would reconsider going to at least 5, the most ideal layout for me is 2x3 where the 2 top windows are large.
