Copying recordings from another channels server

I recently set Channels DVR (windows) up for my Mom to try out in hopes of ditching Spectrum for her. Since she watches a few shows that we record at home I thought I might just copy the folders with the shows I want to share with her from my dvr->TV folder and drop it in hers and channels may magically see them. It didn't. I then moved them and imported them as local content which worked but did no commercial detection. Is there a way to do this with and have the commercials detected or better yet be able to leave it in the TV folder so that future recordings would be with the ones I copied? Thanks

You could export commercial markers to edl via experimental option, then copy those to imports along with the mpg file.

Thanks, I wasn't familiar with edl files. Could I have just dropped the folders in that import folder under recordings? If so, is there something I have to do to make it recognize it? I tried that first and nothing happened, then I tried to change my local content folder there and it wouldn't allow me to.

Yes you can copy mpg and edl files over the Imports/TV or Imports/Movies folders. It should scan them automatically every five minutes.

OK, Thanks. I didn't wait long enough

You can also run an immediate scan from the DVR Settings page under
Local Content > Maintenance > Scan Sources
