I feel sometimes the threads are being closed way too early. Could we have a policy of allowing 24hrs or maybe even a bit longer (a week?) to make sure all interested parties had a chance to respond?

From my observation in recent months, threads are usually closed when solutions are given and there are no more reasons to discuss the issues further.
Either that or threads start getting way off topic, or discussions tend to get personal.
So it seems fine to me to close threads in those situations.
If a user has an issue with the Topic being closed, they can PM whomever closed it and explain why they think it should stay open.
I'm not an employee or paid moderator, so I only close those like @mjitkop mentioned.
I know some are closed because the devs gave their response and there is nothing more to discuss, like give us a Roku/Windows/Mac/Panasonic toaster oven client.
I think he may lack the humor gene.
