CPU usage

Hi All,

Just started using CDVR and love it. I have noticed periods of high CPU usage for apparently no reason.
In this case, there are no client connected, nothing is being recorded, and from what I can see file sizes (recorder.db & log files etc) are not changing.

Is this normal?, its a fresh install using IPTV custom channels (62), so cant work out whats going on.

Thanks in advance

Please go to Support -> Troubleshooting -> Submit Diagnostic Logs from the web interface of the DVR and let us know when it's been submitted so we can have a better idea of what was going on.

Thanks for the quick response

Whatever is running appears to run every 5 mins and runs for 6 mins using a constant 30% of CPU.
Also network activity increases significantly which I am seeing mirrored on the NAS. I wonder if this is related remote NFS mounted movies directory - It contains a bunch for strmfiles.

If you open the DVR web interface you should see the Activity indicating that you are processing imports.

Sorry not sure where that is, I am guessing its related to scanning my movie library. There is about 18K strmfiles there, from the screenshot, I see it checks media every 5 mins, which sync's with the CPU load timing I am seeing.

I have removed the movie library and will monitor, if thats it I will change to daily.

Related question - Does CDVR handle lots of strmfiles OK, I also have emby but would love to have everything in one place ?

Thanks all

I believe Eric is meaning the below view (far right hand side):

Thanks for that
BTW, I have Plex and Emby, tried all the others but CDVR is brilliant, fast and reliable for IPTV, I am using with m3u-editor and its wonderfully fast and great to watch sports delayed while recording, thanks for the great work on that.

I have a few questions to help me plan my server usage:

  1. What sort of processing is this, what does it do?
  2. Will it continue to run like this, or just once until its completed?
  3. Is CDVR suitable for big libraries of strm files, I have about 18K movies and maybe 60K series from IPTV provider ?
  4. Is there an file size threshold to the recorder.db before performance dives both in the UI and on the server?

Thanks

The client and web admin ARE library bound in that that sort of sized library would crush it.

We highly suggest curating instead of just dumping literally everything in there.

We're actively working on being able to handle library of this size, but at this time, you'll likely have a bad time.

No worries, all I needed to know.

The DVR side is perfect for me, so I am happy with that

Cheers
