I'm sure it must be possible but I don't have enough experience/expertise to provide the solution.
I just wanted to mention the fact that these "live" streams are only for the news segments, not all programs. I'm not sure if you were aware of it and I thought I would set the right expectations.
You can use your browser's built in developer tools to try to find the direct link to the video stream, most likely an m3u8 playlist. Unfortunately, a lot of sites make this link very difficult or nigh on impossible to find. It can take a lot of digging and just trying to open urls in VLC before you find a working stream and there's no guarantee you'll find a link that works when opened outside of the site. Glancing at your stations' livestream sites briefly, unfortunately it doesn't look like finding the stream links will be easy.
If you can find the direct link, you can create a custom m3u playlist in Channels. Here's an example of one of the custom channels I'm using for newscasts outside of my area:
#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:-1,channel-id="WBRZDT" channel-number="2" tvg-id="2" tvg-logo="https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/logopedia/images/b/b8/WBRZ.svg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/732?cb=20210723064920", WBRZ
https://d1wdgbxqfhyvfu.cloudfront.net/wbrz-live-1/smil:wbrz-live.smil/playlist.m3u8
Unfortunately the stream URLs for both of these channels require a token that changes every time you visit the page. It's probably possible to write a script to pass along the stream to your server, but would require a little bit of work.
Thanks for the responses
I have Direct TV Satellite and have configured that as one of my sources. Both of these channels WPIX and WWOR are not showing up. Is there anything that I need to get them to show as channels in the guide?
DirecTV satellite is also my main source in Channels and it relies on TV Everywhere to work.
TV Everywhere requirements:
In this case, #1 is not satisfied for these two channels. You can't find anywhere on their websites any way to log in with your DirecTV credentials in order to view the channels live (the normal TV broadcasts).
This is the reason why they don't appear in your DirecTV channel lineup in Channels DVR.
I am exactly in the same situation as you because not only is DirecTV satellite my main TV provider but I am also in the same TV market as you (NYC).
Thanks for the explanation. Will these channels show with an HDHomerun and antenna?
Yes... If you are in an area where you have good reception.
You can check at https://www.antennaweb.org/ or RabbitEars.Info
