https://www.weather.gov/media/marine/rfax.pdf contains a list of stations around the world which transmit weather information via facsimile. Each station has a list of frequencies it uses, and the content that it transmits (weather forecasts, satellite images, and so forth).
The schedule is essentially the same as a television channel guide, differing only in content. An example: NMF (Boston, MA) is about to transmit the 24hr 500mb forecast on 6340.5, 9110, and 12750 kHz, starting at 1855 GMT — the equivalent with TV might be CBS broadcasting The Amazing Race on channels 6, 7, and 13, starting at 6:30pm.
I would like to know if it’s possible to visualize this schedule information on my iPad using Channels. I’m happy to do the scripting necessary to generate JSON files or whatever that I can then import into the app somehow if this stuff is documented.
Yes, I know it’s like buying a large pickup truck and then using it only to commute half a mile down the road — but alas the alternative is for me to write my own channel guide, which sounds like a bit of a drag and it wouldn’t be as nice as this one.
