Custom Channels: Your connection to the tuner was lost

New user here so forgive me if this is a basic question.

I'm using the Custom Channels feature to add a remote IPTV stream as a source to Channels. Everything is working fine, but every so often, I'll get the Your connection to the tuner was lost error. If I press play, it reconnects just fine. My guess is that this happens when the stream is buffering and the connection gets cut for a second.

I think a previous post from 2022 also noted this problem, but is there any sort of resolution? It seems really silly that I need to press play to reconnect to the stream. There should be some option for Channels to attempt to reconnect by itself. Is this possible or is there some sort of workaround?

FWIW, I'm running Channels on Unraid via Docker. Clients are iOS and Apple TV devices. Here's what the logs show when I tried to watch a channel earlier today and the stream kept stopping:

Is the Custom M3U Channel setup as HLS or MPEG-TS?
Looks like it might be set to MPEG-TS from the log

Have you tried recording it to see if you get more verbose errors in the log?

Basically the DVR lost the IPTV stream for some reason.
If you record, the DVR will auto-reconnect and log more information.
If you watch Live, you'll see the Your connection to the tuner was lost error

The stream is MPEG-TS. Does an HLS stream make a huge difference in this regard? I thought the main difference between the two was video quality.

I was able to record a different show with no problems but that’s the only test I’ve done. I’ll try again with a different show tonight.

HLS is best for streaming. Especially Internet.
MPEG-TS is what an HDHR tuner uses.

Channels DVR does better error recovery with HLS

No, the difference is in how the video/audio is sent (encapsulated).

Is there any workaround which will still let me use a MPEG-TS stream?

I have the same problem. I find if I hit play again it works correctly. It is a HLS stream. As far as recording, it is hit or miss.
