Custom source "#EXTVLCOPT:http-reconnect=true" questions

I use a couple of custom sources and have noticed that some m3u files, like the one produced by my Vu Satellite box, contain the line:

#EXTVLCOPT:http-reconnect=true

Some m3u files have it as a single line at the top under #EXTM3U , and others have it for every channel entry in the file. A quick search suggests that it is designed as a command for the VLC player, hence the "VLC" in the string, so that leads to a couple of questions:

  1. Does #EXTVLCOPT:http-reconnect=true have any effect in Channels at all?

  2. If it does, does a single line at the top of the file apply to all subsequent entries or should it be added to every entry that you want to reconnect?
