Custom virtual channel guide thumbnails?

Is there a way to force the virtual channels guide to use the show/movie thumbnails/posters we have uploaded rather than ones that appear to be taken from the internet? Seems like every where in the app my images are used, except in the virtual channel guide! Thanks for any help.

(Using Apple TV's for the client in case that matters.)

You can apply art to all episodes of a show on the web UI

Can you explain which kind of content isn’t showing you what you want? Movie? Episode? Videos?

Currently the guide shows art for content in your virtual channels the same way it does for regular live tv. Movie posters for movies. TV show art for episodes.

Maybe provide a photo of what you’re seeing.

I'm having the issue with shows, and assumed it also applied to movies. But it turns out the only virtual channel I checked was the one where I didn't include custom images for movies! So after double checking, movies DO show my custom images if I have included them.

However, I'm definitely having the problem with shows. For example, I have a Doctor Who virtual channel with seasons 1-9 of the 2005 iteration of the show. I have a single custom image for the overall series, and then custom images for each individual episode. When I view the show through my library on my Apple TV, all these images appear as expected. But when I go to the virtual channel and scroll through the episodes in the guide, they all use an an image from the most recent season of Doctor Who (season 13) that I did not select.

This is true of all the TV shows in my virtual channels where I uploaded an image for the show. They instead seem to use one of the first images from the internet image picker.

Another hint of what might be causing the problem: Using the Web UI, if I select a show from the Library tab, it shows my images. If I select the same show from the DVR tab, it shows the image the virtual channel uses that I didn't choose. Weird.

Thanks for any insight. I assume I'm doing something wrong since I don't see anyone else talking about this issue!

You need to apply your custom art to all episodes.

Can you describe what you mean? Because we provide no means to adjust the art for individual episodes, only the Thumbnails (the image that shows a shot of the video). And Thumbnails are not used in the guide.

If what you want is for the custom image you provided for the overall show, to be used for every episode, then follow @tmm1's advice. When you set new art for the show, click the checkbox at the top of the modal to have it applied to all the episodes.

I was hoping that "apply to all" might be what I needed, but couldn't test it since it wasn't working for me. I tried several shows, and after clicking the save button... nothing happens! I made a short video to show it here.

Not sure if it's a bug or intended but I did solve that problem. Apparently, for me at least, you can't select the same image when you click the update art option, even if you want to change the apply to all option or crop it. Temporarily choosing a different image allowed me to save, then I went back in and reselected the image I wanted and was able to save with apply to all enabled.

It's still not showing on my client yet, but the image from the internet is gone and replaced with just the text name. Also the correct image is showing under both library and DVR in the WebUI. So on the right track! I'll try restarting my Apple TV and see if the guide image appears.

You'll want to refresh your virtual channels for this to take effect, as they already have "guide items" and they don't have the new art. So just refresh your virtual channels.

Additionally, just force quit your Channels app to fresh the guide data perfectly so everything is good to go.

Yeah, this makes sense as you're not actually changing anything, so saving it doesn't really do anything cause......nothing changed. And picking the existing item is probably something that wasn't checked, but your scenario is legit. Good catch, we'll check it out.

Thanks for the help. I did refresh virtual channels and restart the app on my server, but no luck. Went ahead and restarted the client too, but obviously that did nothing either. As I said everything looks right on the webui, and the client guide is no longer showing the "wrong" image. It's just not showing any image at all now!
