Yea this is fairly normal. Building the search index is computationally expensive.
We are actually testing some changes internally which should improve CPU and reduce disk usage. Will be in the beta builds in the coming weeks.
OK, was just curious as I figured if it kicked in while someone was transcoding to view and comskip was running at the same time it might cause issues.
