My dvr directory has a ton of old database backups (going back two years) - is it okay to delete them?
How many total?
88
Okay it's only supposed to keep 6
You can delete the old ones
I have 30 on all four of my dvr's.
I had about 30 down to 3 now after manual cleanup.
Maybe it is 6 days ... but with all the updates it might create more than 1 a day ? I believe it creates a backup after an update ?
I don't worry about mine. They range from 58-145 MB across my 4 servers right now and there are never more than 30 backups in the Database directory. Well, except for the fraction of a millisecond after a new one is created before the oldest is deleted.

31 for me
I think 6 is the number of versions kept.
Yep
# ls -l /volume1/docker/channels-dvr

I have 30 as well going back a little over two weeks. For some days there are several depending upon how many restarts were done that day which would usually only be for upgrading to a new pre-release.
I show 6 in my channels-dvr folder and 30 in my dvr folder
