Deprecation (or optional hiding of) original "Favorite Channels" feature

We don't use the categories for "All" or "HD" or "SD" or even "Favorites" anymore, we use Channels Categories for everything. And they're great, a very real usability improvement for everyday channel surfing, browsing and selection.

So this is probably just a question about interface, but should these top three options even be listed, if these built-in categories aren't actually in use anywhere? I think this would confuse newcomers who are just learning about Channel Collections and how they can be used to replace "Favorite Channels."

I only use favorite channels. Disable all channels i don't want. I don't use collections. It is overcomplex and time consuming compared to just setting fav. So, i would hope they would never remove Fav.

Have you tried disabling them in the Server Clients section.

Favorites can be set on my HDHR tuner and should be honored in Channels DVR.
Channels DVR uses Favorited channels to determine channel priority to record passes from.

I think it's great that users have a choice and can disable it with server side settings. My choice is to not disable it.

Yes, that's why two of them are diabled and grayed out in the screenshot I shared.

My suggestion here is not that the original "Favorite Channels" feature be removed, especially not from folks who still use it. I completely appreciate why it should remain for those.

My suggestion for consideration is that it should be hidden, or removed from setups that have chosen to disable it, in favor of Channel Collections. Lots of folks name their first Channel Collection "Favorites" so seeing two listings, one for "Favorite Channels" and another for "Favorites" is certainly confusing to a newcomer.

This suggestion isn't about overall usability as much as it's about ease of adoption, and overall polish.
