Digital antenna issue - Not Channels App issue

I bought the following antenna:
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/antennas-direct-clearstream-4max-indoor-outdoor-hdtv-antenna-black/5894080.p?skuId=5894080

I am getting all network stations with a strong station except for Fox. It alternates between strong and weak. About ten second of strong and then a few seconds of weak. This means at certain times I get bursts of pixelation, which is annoying.

I put an amplifying on the coaxial, and still not luck. I tried moving it a bit without losing other channels, but still a problem.

I could put the antenna on the roof but that would be a major project for me.

Any suggestions are welcomed. Thanks!

The first step would be to figure out where the FOX tower is, using either an app like Signal GH or some of the resources listed on https://getchannels.com/faq/#what-stations-can-i-receive-with-an-over-the-air-antenna

Then you can make sure the antenna is pointed in the right direction, and look at the signal strength/quality numbers you’re getting on my.hdhomerun.com. That’ll tell you if you need an amp, a better antenna, or maybe even if the signal is too strong and you need an attenuater.

I had a similar problem with a HDHR. Dual. I could just watch it happen with the signal GH app. Ended up replacing it with a connect, and never had a problem again. I don’t know if posting a question to the Silicon Dust forums would get you anywhere.

Thanks. I actually have the antenna pointed at the transmission tower and the other channels are coming from the same tower. Hmmm…

I have a HDHR quatro.

You could reach out to [email protected] with your HDHR ID too. They have ways to gather diagnostics from your tuner and also have some beta firmwares available for the new QUATRO/DUO which improve tuning for certain types of signals. Certainly if all the channels are coming from the same tower then they should all behavior similarly.

Thanks. I also found a post about adding an attenuator. Actually, when I hook it up to my HD TV directly, the same things happens (strong/weak). So, I am guessing it is not the HDHR.

I’ll keep everyone posted.
