DirecTV Now has launched

IOS and ATV Apps are in the app store now.

Will be reviewing and sharing thoughts. My focus will be consumption and use of channels that are not available OTA and would not be accessible through Channels for me.

No DVR and very limited Live TV pausing makes this pretty unappealing.

I’m all in!!!

This and the Channels DVR will cut my $240 TWC bill to ~$85 ($40 for internet and $45 for content).

It seems that the DirecTVNow app looks similar to the Channels app [pause only, no DVR, guide, favorites, apple tv]. just an observation from the videos and screenshots posted.

I signed up, if only to get an AppleTV for $105 and get the service for 3 months to try. So far impressed (on iPad and iPhone) AppleTV is at home. might be able to drop my Fios TV Plan to locals or switch to an antenna and use this. I know my co-worker is most concerned about the 2 concurrent stream limit.

planning to do something similar with my Fios…

Looks pretty nice. I like that the TV Show continues while looking at the Guide. For me I have been paying $15 per month for HBO Now. I can get HBO Go for $5 and also Max (via DTVnow App) for $5. So for just HBO Add-on my additional cost is $25 per month. And I can get a FREE Apple TV 32GB. Seems to be a really good deal at least for 90 days. I also have AT&T Wireless to live tv streaming on my iOS Devices with not Data charge is also pretty nice feature.

This will not replace Channels and Channels DVR because I will not watch commercials. But maybe I can get a cheaper TV Package from my FIOS Provider for a Net zero cost. Will see how it goes.

Did the same for the appleTV; guess I’m betting on three months to when the Channels DVR is released.

Sent you a PM.

Thanks @OurFamilySpot

We don’t have anything like that in the U.K.
I want PlayStation Vue but guess it’ll take years to cross the pond.

I’ve gone with this combo:

Channels for live terrestrial = no fee per month
Kodi for VOD = no fee per month
IPTV m8u files for all paid Cable in the world = £8 fee per month.

Seems to of sorted all my needs.

I bit. I got a good deal with Comcast at 80$ a mo for 150mbs and 40 or so local and cable channels that I use with a cable card and HDHomeRun PRIME through Channels. No need for a OAT. With DTV NOW promo $35 for 100+ channels I get everything I want +5$ mo for HBO is a steal. I also split Netflix with my brothers family and we have a pretty large PLEX library. The best part is everything portable, except Channels.

I prepaid for 3 months of Directv Now to get the 32GB AppleTv. I gave Slingtv a try but it didn’t meet my expectations. I found the interface very difficult to use and search for context. When i did watch something the picture was poor, especially live sports.

Gave Directv Now a try and in less then a minute I was done with Sling. Directv has a much better interface and picture quality is similar to Directv Sat service (far better then Sling).

All is not wonderful in the Directv world. There are bugs all over the place and quite a few problems streaming especially during prime time. I hope these are early bugs and capacity issues they can work out quickly.
