DirecTV Stream Won't Authenticate

Sometime Wednesday afternoon, I started being unable to tune into any TV Everywhere channels. I tried a bunch of things, including deleting the DirecTV Stream source and re-adding it, but the errors seem to be the same. When re-adding the source, the window to auth the DirecTV showed my email address, but I couldn't click on any buttons, or proceed using the "Enter" key. I have posted the logs from my most recent attempt. OTA channels and ah4c channels seem to work fine:

Have you updated to the latest pre-release?

Have you ran the troubleshooter and fixed any non-green statuses?

Instead of removing the source, just rescan individual channels!!!!!! This is your best chance for success.

You can also select Directv as a source while NOT removing Directv Stream.

I had tried those other things too, except for the daily release. The end result is the same, unfortunately. I can try the daily release too in a little while.

I always have both TVE sources, DTV and DTV Stream. They are nearly duplicates of each other. Sometimes, one, or the other, will lose authentication for a channel or two without the opposite source losing authentication. It's weird.

When I tried adding DirecTV as a source, it doesn't seem to even get that far because it still thinks the password is blank which is the same behavior as when trying to re-add Stream.

One other thing I did before I removed the DirecTV Stream source entirely is that I watched the logs during channel re-scanning, and every time it would fail authentication until around channel 76 (FS1) and then it would add the last 70 channels or so. But, that still means it was missing the first 70 or so, which are all the channels I actually watch.

I will try a daily release later today. I don't want to interrupt anything at the moment because Channels is recording an ah4c channel. Thanks for the help.

This may explain the weirdness.

On a TVE source, each channel is auth'd against the network website. That channel token is then good for that network sites token duration. I used to track them, some are 7 days, some 14, some 30 days. Once that individual channel token expires, it has to be reauth'd. The same TVE channel has different tokens on different sources. Each source stores its channel tokens separately.

Trying to watch a TVE channel live or record it will attempt to reauth an expired token, as evidenced by the DVR log.

That makes sense. Thanks for the explanation! :slightly_smiling_face:

It looks like updating to the daily release has resolved the issue. As a general rule, I don't usually install these, but in this case it helped.

If you use Channels DVR TVE, you want to be running the latest server pre-release

Ok, thanks. I don't think I realized trying the prereleases was so high up the list of troubleshooting steps. I had otherwise tried everything else on that list.
