DirecTV Streaming / DirecTV MyNews for MSNCB or any NBC channels

I am a new hopeful Channels user. I’ve searched online and through these forums but have not found a definitive answer to my key question: are MSNBC (and other NBC channels) available via a low cost (<$50/month) subscription that works with Channels DVR Server? I have seen a few posts suggesting there may be options but none of them are specific or current.

I see that via TV Everywhere that “NBC (was) previously available, but NBCU streams were converted to incompatible format”. Does this mean that no NBC / MSNBC channels will work with TVE and DVR on Channels app?

I saw the Feb 25 2025 DirecTV announcement for $40 for DirecTV MyNews which includes NBC channels. I subscribed to the trial -- I can watch via DirecTV browser / app but when I try to add my DirecTV Mynews account to TVE via DirecTV Streaming, I get an error. If the NBC video file format is incompatible outside of online DirecTV controlled browser or apps then this suggests I am out of luck…

Can anyone provide some insights from first hand experience on Channels DRV support for NBC channels?

Thanks in advance!!

I saw that but it is from 2023 which is a long time ago in streaming terms. I was hoping (maybe not realistically) with the spinning off of MSNBC from NBCU that maybe they might realize they are leaving money on the table by closing ranks vs. going broad...

Thanks for responding.

Your best bet is to get a HDHome Run and an antenna if you are within range of an NBC station.

Your gut is accurate. TVE from NBC is DRM'd and no longer compatible with Channels Beta TVE feature. There are some solutions on this community site discussing work arounds for NBC/Universal content but they require additional set up and monitoring. There may be Changes to this information once the spin-off of properties is completed. Comcast has announced the following properties will be spun-off/sold:
