DirecTV TVE Issues

The other day I all of the sudden was getting errors all over the place with tuner not available for all of my TVE stations when watching TV. I went into the web setting but anytime I tried to do a re-scan it just crawls along, spending many minutes per channel and never really fully completing (for example, right now its been on channel 19 of 205 for over 10 minutes - it seems to just give up after a while and stop scanning when watching the activity readout). Ultimately I haven't been able to get my full line-up back - is this TVE bug a known problem right now? I updated to the latest pre-release but the issue remains. When I look at the channel list in manage lineup there are errors everywhere like context cancelled (most common), context deadline exceeded, web socket url timeout reached, etc etc.

Gosh almost sounds like a networking/internet issue. But it is just a guess on my end. Hopefully some other folks can pipe in.

Does troubleshooting page show Chrome up to date?

Did you try to remove and readd the source ?

When adding DirecTV credentials, I have noted this type of stall, too. I force restarted the DVR server, and the re-auth seemed to work better. However, YMMV.

I'm not sure if it's related, but over the past week I've noticed that nearly every station needed to re-auth, so initial tuning was taking a long time. That could indicate that it was about a month ago when I had to go nuclear to fix DTV isssues, or it could mean that DirecTV is having some additional backend transitions and auth issues. (This may be a total red herring, but figured it might work well to let you know you're not alone.)

Thanks for the feedback. What did you have to do with your DVR? It’s definitely not an issue with my network because the shield is getting 500mb down and everything else works fine besides this. I tried rebooting it which seemed to make the rescan go faster but it eventually hung up again.

Anyone have a sense for what “context cancelled” means when I edit my lineup and see all the now missing channels that weren’t before? Should I try deleting and re-adding the DirecTV or does that mess up recording schedules, etc?

This is what happened when I deleted and tried to re-add the DirecTV source - context cancelled error and a mini web screen image....??

Does this page load through the browser www.wtve.net

Yes

I have had issues recently with Direct TV and TVE authorisation after a long run without any issues. Similar in that my channel line up won't authorise even though my login would work with Direct TV.
I found my issue to be my dns. I had to ensure that these 4 links were being resolved correctly. They won't all load in the browser, but once I verified that these were resolving via the dns, it fixed my problems

www.wtve.net
sso.watchtveverywhere.com
tve-tv.oprah.com
prod-central-auth-tve-sciencechannelcom-cdn.mercury.dnitv.com

What did you have to change with your dns? Odd that this would all of the sudden come up when things were stable for so long.

Not sure, I use a custom dns so I just had to make sure that the links were getting to the destination. I just wanted to point out that something changed somewhere and it may be worth a go to try a different dns eg. 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1 to see if it makes a difference

Yea I just tried both (was on 1, moved to 8) with no dice :frowning:

Still get the context cancelled image shown above if I try to add the source back now that I have deleted it

What was special about those four links?

The TVE authorisation process needs to be able resolve those links as well as others. If the process gets stuck anywhere along the line, it starts timing out and you get authorisation errors.

Guess I’ll need some help from the devs tomorrow on this one

What's the last channel in the log before it errors?

Seems like it's stuck trying to login on either SCI or one of the sports channels.

It types DIRECTV but the list below is not filtered. Could be due to old chrome. Did you check the chrome version? It should be listed in the logs.

If that's the case, it's ViacomCBS; Logo Pacific is the 19th channel attempted.

Of course, the web page may not refresh/reflect exactly what is going on behind the scenes.

And based upon personal experience, I'd wager it actually varies with each attempt.

Thanks for getting back to me - here is what the log looks like (I XXed out the email stuff). I am using Safari.

Too old and causing the issue.

Is there a fix button on the troubleshooting page?

If not, click and hold the Sign In button after entering your DTV login.

That's quite old ... what OS is your server running on? Have you tried updating your Chrome/Chromium?

I am running the server from my Nvidia shield - so this isn't the computer browser (which is Mac/safari) that I am navigating the menus from?
