Dismissing NVIDIA Shield as Unsupported

Channels Friends,
I find it distressing that Channels has opted to ignore or not acknowledge the NVIDIA Shield community.

I'm sure Channels knows their subscribers and the platforms we are on. That said, it seems that NVIDIA Shield customers are not part of the equation. Thus, it seems I have no other option but to cancel subscription. I do realize each platform wants to do it their way. But...I wonder how many customers Channels is dismissing. Perhaps less than I may think.

CHANNELS:
1- Is there any plan to incorporate NVIDIA Shield customers?
2- Recommended alternatives?

Probably gone,
Tim

Can you at least give a list of issues you are having?

Thanks for the ask.
No issues. I just wonder where Channels is going and am I as a NVIDIA Shield user on the out. Do I need to start looking for an alternative as my platform is not supported.

The Shield is still supported as a client. The Shield support that is changing is using the Shield as a DVR server. Are you using your Shield as your DVR server?

IIRC a dev mentioned recently changes to the Shield in a the 9.x updates pretty much disqualify it as a server.

As a client I'm humming right along here and quite happy with it. Sure there are bugs here and there, but the devs also let us know a couple of years ago that Apple products are their main platform and those features and bug fixes trickle down to the Shield not long after that.

I'm more concerned with the future plans Nvidia has for the Shield lineup.

iirc its just as a server. i cant think of any other android clients that are powerful enough (maybe no more) to act as a server so they likely had a lot of development costs to maintain that one device.

If you have a old PC you can make it a headless server and use the shield as a client for the TV. Or grab a cheap mini pc and install linux. Amazon.com : Mini Computers

Shield is still a great client for Channels. It is a dated device now, not seeming to get any more updates in some time. Maybe there will be a new model next year??

As a CDVR SERVER , that has been full of issues for some time, many posts about it.
No fault of Channels Devs, it due to the OS updates it did get, changes, restriction etc Google/nvidia made to it. Made things very unreliable for server use.
There are much better alternatives out there now though.
