Any reason why the DIY Network Channel of tv everywhere has no guide data? It's been like this for days now. The channel works but it has no guide data.
Try 'delete and rebuild database" in the guide maintenance cog wheel in the server web ui
Yeah I've done that but it still comes back with no guide data for that channel unfortunately.
So what I found for whatever reason is on the server the channel was gone. It must of at some point not been able to tune so it was gone from my authorized channels yet was still on my list on my TV devices. I went in and re-added it on the server and now the guide data is back. Strange that the server can remove a channel but all my devices will still show it causing the issue.
I ran into something similar when trying to filter out channels. It can be done in the DVR web interface and also in each individual client, which makes sense, since some might want some channels others don't. There are sync options in the app settings, where you would block, allow, favorite a channel. Import from source, export to source.
In a large household, it would make sense to allow them all in the DVR ui, and block in each client individually. For me, I block server side, and force the clients to not get those channels.
It could also be that Discovery is going to eliminate/re-brand DIY in January, and it will be relaunched as the Magnolia channel.
Yeah the thing is that it's a channel I have in my lineup and like I said it was enabled for the longest time on both the server and on all my devices and is why I didn't understand why it was still on my devices but with no guide data only to find it no longer activated on the server. Once I went in to the edit channels on the server and clicked reauthorize it was again on the server and then downloaded the guide data. But like I said it's odd that it isn't built in that if the server deactivates a channel that is still is on all the client's just no guide data. Now I know that is what happens I will know for the next time. Would be great to have an option for the server and the clients to have an auto sync option because like you said I do set the channels I want on the server and then sync up my client devices but once it's done it doesn't sync again unless you manually sync it. If it did and the channel disappeared I would have known that something was wrong right away.
Guide data is only pulled for enabled channels on the server. This is done to cut down on network bandwidth/data, so only relevant information is delivered. However, since channel lists (disabled/favorite status) are separate between the server and each client, it can lead to the situation you just experienced: disabled on the server but enabled on the client, which means guide data won't be downloaded for that channel, and won't be available for the client. (And since there's no guide data for the server, recording is not available for that channel, either.)
Sync is coming. It's just not available yet. (Android has a basic one-way push/pull, but comprehensive sync is still in development.)
