Do different Android versions have differing Channels API?

I notice that my Shield has a substantially different API from Android on ChromeOS.

For instance with my Chromebook running Android, when you bring up the controls while playing there is a circle with 3 dots in the upper right corner.

This leads to a menu, closed captions, audio language, and options. "options" puts up white text over the video which has details about the media being played (for instance Audio: ac4).

On my Nvidia Shield there is a different menu, and the "options" selection does not bring up media information.

The Shield says it is Android TV 9.2.0, so it is much older. Sorry, the screen shot from the Shield is a photo.

Shows here on my Shield in both the stable and latest beta.

Are you sure that shot is showing a stream playing, or could it be something you imported like a movie? I have zero imports, so I can't test that.

Actually, mystery solved, possibly.

I did test while running the recording of the network news from last night. That menu is different in that case here.
