Does anyone manually edit the commercials on a lot of their recordings?

Hello! I'm interested in talking to a couple people with a lot of recordings who:

  • Have recorded them off of Cable, OTA or TVE
  • Have manually edited/verified the commercials on a lot of recordings
  • Haven't modified their comskip.ini
  • Haven’t modified the recorded files

Edit: updated requirements

Please comment here and I'll respond to a couple of you privately to see if you can be of assistance.

Thanks!

This weekend I edited or verified the commercial detection for every episode of Bluey. They were a mix of TVE and the Fubo project. Maybe 1/3 were TVE.

Hello to you too!

TVE for me.

Yes, I do it all the time. As much as possible, I try to be up-to-date with recordings every day.

That is one thing I have never done.

I have a huge amount of movies that i record off of OTA, TVE, and adbtuner/hdmi encoder. I manually verify/edit each one.

Happy to assist any way i can

  • Have recorded them off of ... Cable (DishNet), OTA (DishNet & HDHomeRun), TVE (Yes)

  • Have manually edited/verified the commercials on a lot of recordings ... Put original files into a software editor and edit spots out on editor's timeline.

  • Haven't modified their comskip.ini... Don't use comskip info.

I believe what Eric is asking about is if you use the feature that is built in Channels DVR to edit and verify the commercial breaks.

Then, after you save the changes, the recording gets a "Verified" label:

I record from cable and I edit the commercials in each and every one, every day, except PBS shows (for which I've disabled commercial detection). I use only the Channels DVR editor, and have not modified the comskip.ini or the recordings.

Yep, off cable except for FS1 (because of DRM) and when I use my HDMI encoder (AppleTV/Roku baseball).

Yeah, I verify all my recordings then cut out the commercials with LosslessCut.

I haven't. If it could make comskip more accurate I would love to learn how to do that for some channels, though.

EDIT: in particular I'd really love to change how comskip works for channels like MLBN/NHLN/NFLN/ESPNU since it defaults to using the bottom line instead of scene changes.

Thanks for the comments everyone: I've updated the requirements to indicate that I'm looking for situations where the recordings haven't been modified.

Anyone else interested in participating in sending me their comskip annotations? Respond here and I'll reach out.
