Does Channels or the HDHomeRun Device Rescan?

I am using Channels on a Linux system and I have two HDHomeRun quad tuners on my LAN, both getting the same signal from my OTA antenna. (Sounds like overkill, but the original plan was to have one antenna here and one at the guest house, since the terrain between the two makes it possible that one might receive channels the other doesn't.)

This area recently got a new channel 15 (with 4 subchannels). It's low power and they have not filled out their schedule on the subchannels yet. I never knew about it until I hooked my HDHR up to the antenna and scanned. Oddly, the second HDHR didn't see channel 15 when it first scanned.

What's odd is that I have not rescanned and the 2nd HDHR now sees channel 15. Not only that, but there is now a Channel 27. I've never heard of it and can't find much on it, but the signal is there and 15.1 is in use, but the subchannels aren't.

I thought maybe Channels was just pulling down the listing info, but if that were true, then the HDHR devices wouldn't see those channels.

How did these show up? Does Channels automatically have HDHR devices rescan at various intervals? Or does the HDHR do that on its own regularly?

Every three days according to them

I know for a fact that the HDHR Prime would rescan, or update its channel list every so often. I woudl see a glob of new channels appear in the HDHR app, (that i dont want). and have to go in and disable them.

Does this mean the OTA tuners also auto scan ever few days?
I could have sworn that, when i was first trying out different locations for my antenna, i would have channels disappear from the channel list after a few days.

Thank you, @tmm1 and @speedingcheetah.

That explains the new channels showing up. I also know that this Friday is a "rescan day," since the local PBS stations (which means something 5 to 6 total subchannels) is changing their frequency. Gotta take care of that so the kiddie shows on there that I record for our grandson will continue to be recorded.

What does seem odd to me is that, with both HDHRs hooked up to the same antenna, with a good splitter, that one can pick up signals the other doesn't always see.

8 tuners!...Jesus! LOL

hahaha... 15! wow

We have .. I do a lot of testing for my PC Clientele .... the automatic re-scan saved my butt during Repack.

2 Primes
3 Quatros
4 Connects.

And of Course TVE.

Thats crazy, I have 2 Connects..... that's it. I never run out of tuners.

I have quite a few users that I support so I have several test systems.

Interesting.... Little extra money maker selling access? lol

No I do not allow outside access .. I have a Home Business PC upgrade and Computer support. Support all Windows Linux Android etc ... no Apple products yet.

Those in Tech support appreciate a great testing system better for troubleshooting than having a non tech person trying to explain what is wrong.
