Just setup my DVR for the first time on real hardware. I have 2 CONNECTs both pointed at the same transmitter and selected the same postcode (S35 - Sheffield UK) and the DVR downloaded the guide twice - presumably once per HDHR. Should it not do it just once if the postcode is the same?
Do you see it twice in the logs? Downloaded once fully and then started over?
Yes. And the progress bar on the webgui started over again. Also the web guide itself has a entry per HDHR rather than a unified guide.
Can you email your log to [email protected]. Sounds like it might be a bug in initial setup. Even if the did start over, it should have completed much faster the second time and skipped most of the days where it already had guide data.
Going forward, every day it will only download guide data once for both tuners.
If video plays fine then you can ignore any video errors in the log, they are harmless.
How big can the log file get? There were an awful lot of errors. Will email once I have SSH’d in.
The double-download bug you encountered during initial setup has been fixed for the next DVR update.
I’m not sure why you’re seeing so many stream errors- might indicate a quality problem with the incoming signal. Given your other thread re: channel number and names, I would investigate your signal quality further.
Thanks. Once the next DVR is released should I uninstall and start over? I don’t have any recordings yet that I need to keep.
I will check the stream errors on other channels. However I have never had any OTA signal issues ever before with a number of Freeview recorders.
Is there a way to not transcode the AVC streams recorded from U.K. DVB-T2 muxes at all as all my devices can play it natively (not so with the mpeg2?streams on the DVB-T SD muxes). My wifi is Google WiFi mesh so no problem with the bandwidth on the internal network.
I did have a power out during that recording. Oops forgot to mention that. Shutdown the device to move it mid recording to move it to the loft. Would that explain things?
No there’s no reason to do so. The DVR will update itself automatically when the new version is released.
Transcoding is required because your AVC streams are interlaced, and thus need to be decoded and deinterlaced for web playback.
I’m aware that the engine updates automatically. I just wondered if the double download has resulted in the duplicate guide on the web interface (1 per HDHR) or is that expected behaviour? For my use case of 2 CONNECTs pointed at the same antenna - effectively giving a virtual 4 tuner device - I would expect to see only a single unified guide.
It is expected that the web UI guide shows a separate section per HDHR- that’s not related to the bug you encountered.
I’ve been meaning to unify the guide, so I’ll do that for the next build as well.
Thank you
I have an updated build if you want to try it out and verify it works as you expect. To upgrade, run this command:
curl -XPUT http://127.0.0.1:8089/updater/check/2017.07.26.1906
Updated fine. Unified guide - thanks. Obviously with 2 identical CONNECTS pointed at the same transmitter I can’t tell whether it has reconciled properly. Could only tell if I had 2 separate sources. Will the DVR use whatever tuner is free out of all the devices automatically now?
Yes
Would like the web guide channel type (favourites, HD, all etc) to be a sticky rather than reverting back to favourites.
Fixed for next build.
Test build: 2017.07.26.2302
Sticky works if I return to guide from DVR but not from any other tab, still reverts to Favourites.
New official build is available with these fixes and the combined guide.
