I have a mix of Apple TV HD’s/4K’s and I’m noticing a lot of dropped frames only on the HD’s whenever I’m using the quick guide while watching something recorded or live. I recently upgraded my ATV’s to 16.1 RC, however I was also noticing this with 16.0. Are the HD’s simply not able to keep up with the overhead or is this potentially related to tvOS 16?
Both. The HD can't keep up because tvOS 16 uses more CPU
That makes perfect sense. Just navigating around the UI, it feels choppy as compared to what I remember in tvOS 15. I’m hoping with some refinements it will get better…
Is there a way to downgrade the Apple TV to tvOS 15?
I don’t believe there is an external port anymore on newer Apple TV’s for connecting to a Mac. That’s the only way I know of downgrading the OS on an Apple TV. We’re you seeing dropped frames on tvOS 15 and what model ATV do you have?
I've got a 4K and an HD, 4K was updated by mistake and would like to roll back but don't think it can be? Good to know it might be possible with the HD as it's got a USB port?
You could certainly try it. Just curious, are you seeing any dropped frames in Channels on your Apple TV HD?
