DSM 7 - permissions issue (Local content)

has anyone with a Synology run into a folder "@eaDir/[email protected]"

when adding folders and allowing "channels" user access some of my folders are getting this error and will not continue scanning the folder for my local content.

Scanner error walking /volume1/HDHomeRun: open /volume1/HDHomeRun/@eaDir/[email protected]: permission denied

Scanner error walking /volume1/BluRays: open /volume1/BluRays/@eaDir/[email protected]: permission denied

When giving channels owner of the folder did you check mark the Apply to this folder, sub-folders and files. That would be my best guess.

I wouldn't worry about it. @eaDir is an extended attributes folder and Channels DVR doesn't need access to it. Synology creates them for indexing thumbnails of images, like a thumbs.db file in Windows.

Just make sure that both /volume1/HDHomeRun and /volume1/BluRays are Synology Shared Folders and through Control Panel > Shared Folder give system internal user channels Read/Write access to those Shared Folders.

Thanks, I read about the reason for the folder (Synology indexing) - and I have the Read/Write access set up, however, when Channels scans the folders it stops at this particular folder and will not continue the scan, so I will not add any of my files to the system.

Even though I have the @eaDir's probably the reason I don't see the issue is that my media is one level deeper in the directory than yours. I have

/volume1/ChDVRimports/@eaDir
/volume1/ChDVRimports/Movie < My Movie imports
/volume1/ChDVRimports/TV < My TV imports

Maybe they'll have to change the code to ignore @eaDir when scanning.

Very good point, either the channels developer would have to make that change or I could move my files one level deeper.
