DTV Streaming DVR through HDMI Encoder

Could DirecTV Streaming DVR recordings be sourced through a single port HDMI Encoder so that Com-skip could be added and then be added to the Channels DVR to be categorized etc.

I'm likely far away from requiring this because CableCARD is still working and supported. I purchased a single port HDMI Encoder. I believe I might rather fuss with this than maybe use 4 Osprey boxes and a multi port encoder. I have 5 Osprey boxes to try the multi port later if I wanted.

I thought that maybe playing the DVR recordings the next day through the Encoder and let Channels do the rest.

Second thought, if I were sharing DTV Streaming and only had access to the DTV Video on Demand Library could the same be done? I don't believe that VOD allows fast forward through commercials etc.

I haven't seen any responses to my question. Is it a ridiculous request or .............

Uhh...its a bit tough to do as DTV streamlinks aren't exactly predictable for DVR recordings.

You're probably better off recording with Channels with the HDMI encoders from the channels than trying to pull recordings from DTV's DVR.

Channels is designed to record and Comskip process linear TV that has EPG data. What you're talking about is more akin to capturing "Video on Demand" -- which is the kind of thing you can do with PlayOn Cloud or similar applications.

For some streaming services, you can use apps like PlayOn Cloud to capture this kind of content, and then download them to Channels DVR. I don't believe PlayOn has ever supported DTV, but it does work with a number of other streaming sites.

The fact that it's a DVR recording I thought would ease that function. I have a single stream HDMI Encoder is the reason I asked.
My CableCARD(s) are functioning well and so long as they do then I'm of course not particularly interested.

I'm aware of the PlayOn function and do use from time to time.

I'm quite rural with no OTA and trying to sort options when CableCARD goes away.

My Comcast/Xfinity isn't inexpensive and I had considered Paramount+ (Premium) that would give me CBS local, Peacock (Premium+) that would give me NBC local, then HULU (no ads) which would give me the balance for 'next day'. FOX's new offering in the fall might figure in to this as well.

Yeah...if you want to use the DTV DVR features, then use it but it defeats the purpose of using Channels tho.

As @bnhf said, you'll probably have more luck capturing on-demand titles using PlayOn Cloud or StreamFab. You can probably capture the recordings for no extra cost with the HDMI encoders with OBS but theres no automated way to do it so that would have to do it manually and by hand.
