Hello all. I am new to the HDHomeRun and channels app and so far I am very happy with the setup. The one issue I have is Channel 6 out of Philadelphia, which is low VHF channel 6. I'm about 45 miles north of the broadcast towers. I tried both the Winegard YA7000C and the Channel Master CM-3020. I am able to pull in about 42 channels, but 6 is not one of them. As a test I built a dedicated 85mhz folded dipole, and surprisingly I pick up channel 6 as well as 72 total channels. The issue I have is some of the UHF channels are marginal with this setup. I bought a vhf/uhf combiner, but that killed my channel 6 reception. I was considering using 2 quattro tuners, one hooked up to my channel 6 folded dipole, and the other hooked up to the CM-3020. I am thinking the answer is yes, but does channels support dual Tuners? I'll probably write a python script to tune to each channel on both tuners, and pick the one that has the better signal/quality.
Absolutely. You can have as many tuners as you like.
Also, no need for separate scripts. Just disable the weak channels on each tuner, and Channels won't try to tune that particular channel using that tuner.
If you want to use that script for initial testing, that can work. But as a determiner for which stream to use from within Channels, don't bother. It will be far too much effort for minimal gain, especially when you can disable particular channels selectively, and per tuner.
