Duplicate Channel Mappings which can't be changed

Hi, I hope you can help. I am in Northern Ireland, and the guide for this region picks up two Irish channels (these are legitimately offered as part of the NI freeview broadcast) called RTE1 and RTE2 - they occupy slots 1 and 2, and the DVR guide insists on mapping them to BBC1 and BBC2. When I select them to remap, there are no other options to pick, certainly none for RTE1 and RTE2 ... they're both HD channels - but effectively useless for DVR as they've no guide.

Please see pic - which I hope makes sense.

Anyone any ideas please?

Many thanks - loving the app - I'm going to cancel SkyQ in the morning!

When you click the pencil icon, can you type in “RT” to bring up better matches?

Hi - when I type RT, no other channels come up at all - there’s no “RTE” in there at all.

What’s the name of the freeview transmitter in your area?

Freeview Limivady is the only N Ireland one that comes up in the list.

Hi

I just noticed that you’d a similar problem from a user in Wales who was picking up S4C and the guide was labelling it as CH4.

Is there anything that can be done with regard to the two RTE channels - can the guide provider in Northern Ireland update their guide? I don’t really understand how all this works …

Further to this, RTE1 and RTE2 are official channels for Freeview UK, albeit only available to certain customers in Northern Ireland:

https://www.freeview.co.uk/why-freeview/channels/rte-one#LLdGFbS1ZpKAFhr2.97

https://www.freeview.co.uk/why-freeview/channels/rte-two#LMHd6LuGv76hO4Kr.97

Which is fine, but the DVR guide is currently picking them up as channels 1 and 2 in HD.

Hmm, according to that website RTE1 is channel 52. But you’re getting it on channel 1?

Sounds like you’re not receiving Freeview, but Saorview instead. And since the guide data is UK/Freeview, it’s not matching up.

I’ve emailed our guide provider to see what they can do.

Hi

Thank you so much for looking into this. From a big of googling it looks like the DIVIS transmitter has a relay (from SAORVIEW) for RTE1 and RTE HD. In the guide selection there is only one Freeview LIMAVADY for NI, perhaps it might be possible to add DIVIS also?

I’m getting them on Channel 51 and 52 in SD, but on Channels DVR it’s coming up as 1 and 2.

FWIW, I’ve just done a rescan on my Samsung TV, and it is picking them up on channels 861 and 868 both in HD, with full guide info.

Last update on this - but my DVR just failed, or my PC did, not sure, but the channels app on my Apple TV just reverted to non DVR mode with rte 1 and rte 2 in slots 1 and 2 in perfect HD with full programme guide. So the problem is definitely with the guide for the DVR.

I heard back from our provider and they have added these two channels to your lineup, as ch52 and ch53. This will take a day or so to show up.

Once it does, you can use the channel mapper again (via the pencil icon) and then search for RTE to map it to your channel 1 and 2.

Wow, I think this is the best customer service I’ve ever received. Thank you so much. 5 stars.

Hi Wonderstoat,

Just checking if you are currently getting guide data for the RTÉ channels. Mine has been missing for a week or 2. Thanks

Ironically, I’m in Donegal this weekend, but will check when in home tomorrow. Haven’t noticed anything. What transmitter are you on?

Thanks Wonderstoat. I’m in Belfast so think it must be Divis. I get guide data if I use the HDHOMERUN app but don’t get it on the Channels app. Thanks

It’s working fine for me. All guide data there.

@paulboyce did you try this?

Yes, I looked at the channel mapper and searched rte but nothing appears. There is no icon beside the RTE channels anymore.

Okay I’ve emailed our provider for a fix
