hello I know with hd homerun you can remove duplicate channels but is there anyway to remove thar from sources like directv tve channels when you have more than one provider providing the same channel? Thanks in advance!
but I want to remove them from showing up in the guide not from being an option to dvr them in case one of them is down because I would like to have them as backup sources, is that possible?
Creating a Channel Collection is one good way to do that. When looking at the guide, view it using that collection -- that way you won't see duplicates, only the channels you've added to the collection. Recordings will still happen based on channel priority, regardless of what's viewable in the guide:
no i have created channel collections but they still show up
Nothing will show-up in a Channel Collection that you didn't put there, when viewing the guide by that collection name. Sounds like you're looking at "All" channels on the client, you want to be looking at just a given collection by name. Collections you want to be viewable on clients need to have been added to clients individually or globally:
try it bro you'll see
What do you mean try it? This is the way I have my system set up for daily use.
I have a master Channel Collection called Up'n'Away, and it contains channels from a number of different Channels Sources -- but only those I added:
There's only one CNN for example in there, even though I have CNN available from a number of sources. If I create a pass to record a show on CNN, it'll record from whichever CNN is the highest priority for recording, and then fallback to next highest if there's a failure.
TBS, TNT and TruTV are shown multiple times, as those are the East and West coast feeds which I specifically added to the collection.
Some screenshots of what you're seeing might help...
Many Channels DVR users here, including myself, use channel collections to select a specific set of channels to show in the guide. So I confirm what @bnhf said, it works very well.
If it's not working for you, it's something that is wrong on your side.
Make sure to read everything that @bnhf shared.
ok thanks
