Duplicate channels with TVE

I am SURE this question has been asked already, but I'm not seeing it. With traditional tuners, duplicate channels are consolidated into a single channel within Channels. For example, I have a QUATRO and a Prime. Since the QUATRO is the first source in priority, NBC (to pick a channel) from the QUATRO is displayed in Channels and the Prime is hidden.

Now that I have added TVE, I see multiples of many channels. Disney Jr., for example, is listed 3 times: 1 from Prime and 2 from TVE. I am assuming that the 2 TVE channels represent different time zones? But shouldn't one of the TVE channels be consolidated with my Prime Disney Jr.?

This is a bug in how we combine channels. Basically the disneyjr on your PRIME has a different ID than the one coming from TVE and so they're not matching up. Other channels will match up.

I know it is confusing and we are looking into a fix. We might end up never combining TVE channels so that it's clear they're different and will use your streaming bandwidth.

Interesting. I hear what you are saying about bandwidth. But of course, that only applies to those with bandwidth limits. Maybe it would be a good idea to keep it as a configuration so we can choose whether to combine them? Also, if TVE is lower in priority than Prime, wouldn't all of the Prime tuners need be used before TVE would kick in and start using bandwidth? And as always, thanks for the amazing product and for the super fast responses, @tmm1!

The problem is that it's going to be challenging to combine channels in a way that's reliable across different cable providers.

Combining across two HDHRs was easy, because both would have the same callsign. But different cable companies can have different callsigns for the same channel and they might or might not match the name we're using in the TVE version.

Makes sense. I'm 100% certain that I'm not going to come up with any ideas that you guys haven't already thought of... But maybe they can be combined based on program lineup? Just a thought. And probably one you've already had or dismissed.

Just an update... When I first posted the question, I had only been looking at the web UI. Afterwards, I tried on Apple TV and iOS and the channels are in fact combined. So it looks like only the web UI has them separated. Which is fine with me, honestly.

Here is an interesting one. I just went to record Super Why for my kid that airs on PBS Kids. When I am looking at my DVR Schedule, it shows that it is recording from PBS Kids, Channel 6777. When I go into the Guide, Channel 6777 doesn't show. When I goto my local PBS Kids OTA channel, it is there and highlighted to be recorded.

So I can see where the logic is set to record OTA vs TVE...but the display is confusing as to what is actually happening.

Check your filter on Guide...you might need to re-set to “All Channels”

I'm set to All Channels.

I have 2 TVE sources, Xfinity and Philo. Plus a HDHR Prime tuner.
I re scanned everything due to Comcast package change.
Channles and TVE now are now not combining the TVE channels in place of the hdhr tuner,(TVE set as top priorty.
Also there is duplicates listed in the guide on the ATV guide(and web page) of every TVE channel that both Xfinity and Philo have.
How do you get it to all just combine?

I had done this on a test setup (the prime was not setup on it though) and the 2 TVE listings were combines fine.

well i just took the come to make lists. and compare and just set the promary source chans to Fav, and un fav the source that is a duplicate.

Since they are the TVE web streams, dont have to worry about a limit of number of streams / available tune sources. ( I think)

so the test server machine upon a reboot, or having switched the updated ATV app to that server.....all the channels are shown and not at all combined like they used to be.

My sorting and manually removing things from each source has made things much more clean and organized, but would have liked for it if it had been done automatically.

There was a bug which has been fixed in the latest Android/FireTv release

I use TVE and CDVR with two providers, Philo and YouTubeTV. Both of these providers use the same channel numbers so I cannot have the same channel from both in the guide. I want this in-case one provider has a streaming issue, I can switch to the other in the guide.

The DVR will switch over automatically
