Duplicate Series Pass

I have two OTA sources for the same network, but both have marginal signals. I set up two different series passes for the same series, but with different channels. My theory is that if I have two copies, I have a better chance of getting one good one. Will I get two copies of the same show doing this? If not, is there a solution that doesn't require manual intervention?

If they're using the same source for guide data, then they're both the same program, and Channels will only select one to record through a pass.

Not to my knowledge.

Although, if the program that airs before/after is always the same, you could try setting a pass for one of the channels, and get creative with padding. If the program that airs before is 30 minutes, and the program you want is 60 minutes, then you could try setting a pass to start 30 minutes late, and end 90 minutes after. (Although in that situation, the entry in your library would be for the program airing before.)

Actually, you can move the secondary recording file to a different disk drive and then rename the secondary file with the file name of the first. Then copy the renamed file back to the CDVR location of the first and overwrite the "Bad" recording file. Then Refresh Metadata for the show episode or movie. Now you have the best recording of the two with the correct metadata.

It looks like my best solution is to set my automated system to submit a manual recording for a specified day of week, channel, and time to record every week.

This is less than optimal because of reruns and possible schedule shifts, but it is all I have. Thanks for the feedback.

There are many workarounds I've used. None are perfect. Mainly using two servers.
What we need is a setting that allows a pass to record EVERY airing that matches its rules.
Right now it only records the first airing that meets its rules.

The devs want to make it idiot proof, but I would like more advanced control.
