DVR by User

In the past I had 2 DVR’s in the house. I gave each a name of who controlled that DVR. This way we could have a list of Recordings by Person and a Schedule by Person. But any TV could see both DVR’s by simply switching to that name. Whole Home DVR. This is how you get 12 turners on FIOS (6 each).
Since this is on Apple TV it would be good to save these in iCloud which is a login used for Photos on the Apple TV. That way you could have different setups per Apple TV. But could simple be an option to change users in the menu.
I would prefer not to have multiple DVR’s unless that was required. But could be an option for users with heavy recording requirements.
As a comparison, Netflix has User Profiles. This would be another option.
Lastly, if I record a show that multiple people/users want to see, it would be nice to have it removed from my list after watching but still available for others. This might be difficult so I would not mind if the show was recorded multiple times (or multiple copies) for each user.

I tried to search on this topic, but there isn’t much. now that we actually have a DVR which gives us a centralized location, can it be used to create user profiles? something enabled in the App when it sees a DVR?

its only been a couple days we are already stomping on each other. Having user profiles would be nice.

i don’t know if its been committed, or if it still needs fleshed out or if it was already declined.

its also another feature that adopters would see as a benefit for the monthly bill.

Thanks!

User profiles are, as you can probably expect, a topic of conversation. But they’re hard to do well. There’s a lot of scenarios that just having 1:1 profiles fall apart, setting terrible expectations.

It’s not something we’ll be approaching until Channels DVR is more mature.

Any thought to multi user login for the remote viewing? I’m not quite clear on what the authorization code is actually authorizing against.
