DVR content not playing via VLC/Plex

Hi I'm very new to the Channels app and I was really excited to try out the DVR feature with TVE and record some shows to view on my Plex server. Now I started to schedule some shows and they have recorded but from what I can see VLC and Plex will not play the mpg file that was created. I can play it just fine within Channels app and on my computer's Channels DVR interface.

Any advice? I really wanted to be able to have a local DVR that I'd be able to add into my Plex server and I thought this was the perfect solution but it seems like I've hit a road bump somehow

Strange. The files are very simple mpegts with h264/aac. They play in VLC for me. What version of VLC and what platform are you using?

Windows 10, I just updated my VLC to 3.0.8 and now the file plays but a quick google shows that Plex does not play .mpg which is the extension that I'm getting in preferences. Thank you for the quick response I'm very new to this

Lots of people use Plex with their Channels DVR recordings. The mpg extension is not a problem.

Here is what my plex console is spitting out when I play the file.

[Transcoder] [h264 @ 008f1300] non-existing PPS 0 referenced

Could be a problem with the hardware transcoder. If it plays in VLC and in Channels then you probably need to check with Plex to see why they're having issues. There is nothing special about our recordings- they are standard video files.

Yeah It must be something on the Plex end. I was able to have Plex create an "Optomized for TV" version, and it made a mp4 file in seconds that runs just fine on Plex. I really appreciate your communication and I really look forward to introducing Channels to my family!
