DVR could not be discovered

I have been getting this occasionally from home. I can't figure it out. I did submit diagnostics on my phone when it just happened, but I have seen it before on my hardwired gigabit ATVs.

Connecting at home. Network is fast. And I have seen it both wifi and gigabit ethernet, which probably rules out the network. But I don't want to rule out the network completely, it is UniFi and I do try betas periodically but it is current running an official release and seems stable. The UniFi controller is not reporting any issues.

I did see the erros before on hardwired ATVs when NAS was busy recording programs.

I track load averages every 5 seconds on my NAS running Channels:

I haven't seen it above 4 so I don't think that server load should be an issue.... however, I think that Channels is usually doing something (like recording or comskip) when it happens.

I usually can force close the app and reload it again and it works... or can set it to connect away from home. Sometimes it continues not to work in home mode, even if I put in my server IP. But eventually everything starts working normally again.

This is not a frequent issue, so makes it difficult to debug. But if the devs or any users have ideas, I would like to hear any suggestions.

I’ve been running into this occasionally myself. In my case if I just wait a bit it usually connects with no action taken. If not, if I force kill the app and relaunch it, it connects without issue. Seems like some weird bug, I’ve noticed it usually when the app has been in the background.

Yes, same. The fact that you have noticed it too makes it a possible bug. I've started running the original Channels app aka: "Channels for HDHomeRun" now. I figure if it takes a little bit to connect to the DVR, at least that app will launch without error messages until DVR is up.

I do think it is a recent bug... as in within the last few months, because I have been using Channels since 2016 and haven't experienced it much before. Either that or its some other software with my UniFi network, the Synology LACP bond, or other software running on the NAS recently. But I haven't noticed any NAS or network issues other than this occasional Channels DVR connection problem.

Just adding my voice to the chorus. I’ll get the “could not be discovered” screen on both my aTV and iPad while in home, patiently wait and have been connected 100% of the time.
