DVR Crashing in latest build

My system didn't like the new update. channels keep cashing.

how to I get the logs if I can't get them through the web ui?

edit: I had to restore back to stable and did restore from my backup of 20 mins ago so idk how much these logs will include but here is the log id a32b949e-4aed-40a8-ad95-d07ea3d253ef

I installed this (0126) and the dvr is bootlooping for me. I rolled back to the previous pre-lease from yesterday and it loads just fine.

Logs have been submitted as 4a32f9cd-959f-498c-aed2-0e8800ebb7e8

Is there a link to the latest beta? It is crashing before I can update.it.

The easiest way that I found is just to go back to release( uninstall and reinstall) and then update, I don't know of a way to update outside of the web UI to a beta other than what I've described.

You will have to restore from your backup once you go back to release.

I usually just change the symlink to the dvr directory to point to the earlier build and then restart the service or reboot. I believe it keeps the previous 5 builds.

I just run a curl command with the update I want ....

curl.exe -XPUT http://127.0.0.1:8089/updater/check/2024.11.13.0300

I wonder with that work with something that's potentially not stable enough even to do a web UI update?

I usually after a major crash where ChannelsDVR will not even start is run setup uninstall ... run setup again to Install release level then run the curl command.... to update to what prerelease I want. I like the @slampman way seems much easier hopefully I will not have to try it soon.

I also do what @slampman does. I haven't tried this, but in theory you could execute the binary within the directory of the version you want and then once it is running select to upgrade to the latest pre-release as well.

That works and it is the easiest ... I tested on my test machine ... It starts then you can still upgrade ... this will be my goto way from now on.

Thanks for testing that out. I'll have to try to remember to do that the next time something like this happens. Although, to the devs credit it is EXTREMELY rare that this happens.

That's what I do. Easy for me to change the latest symlink.

If it hasn't crashed, the curl method works as well DVR Crashing in latest build - #7 by Edwin_Perez and allows you to load any version, not just your backed up versions.

I had thought about requesting a 'Revert to Stable Version' option in the UI that would load the most recent Stable without having to uninstall/reinstall/restore. But how often would that be needed/used?

On Windows it is so easy double click on the channels-dvr.exe of the previous release you want .. no changes just a simple double click... and you are up and running.

I’ve been using Channels DVR for a little over 8 years I think. I can remember two occasions when we had an issue similar to this one and this is one of the two. Also, I’d add that on both occasions the developers were all over the issue and had it resolved quickly.

So, I’d echo your comment that it would be nice to have the ability to easily roll back but based on experience almost never used.
