DVR Not Discovered

Have my DVR setup on windows 7 and it keeps disconnecting from the channels App on our Apple TV.

I have the newest version of the app and read it may be a problem with Bonjour. I do not have bonjor installed on the DVR machine, do I need to install it? Any other ideas? I just rebooted my wireless router and it picked it right back up. I’m using a very open 5GHZ SSID with great coverage, that’s not an issue.

Can you copy/paste the OS/CPU section from the top of the DVR web UI?

If you open Control Panel > Hardware > Power Options > Edit Plan Settings what does it say for Put the computer to sleep?

Put computer to sleep NEVER for plugged in or battery. I did not have bonjour installed, but I just installed it though the Bonjour print download. Not sure but it seems the DVR client is not staying alive. Have a Netgear xr500 Night Hawk Router with DUMAOS. Stetting there? Maybe static IP? Open ports?

Bonjour is built into the DVR and not something you have to install.

On your router you can try to disable the IGMP Snooping option. Sometimes that can cause problems.

On your Apple TV, when do you notice problems? Does it happen while you’re watching TV? Or while you’re in the app browsing around? Or only when you come back to the TV and try to go into the app again?

Time is the issue, works great and come back 12 hours later and it’s dead. IGMP Proxying is disabled. And when I say works great I mean it, this app with the Premium SD channels is the best thing on the market at this point. KUDOS.

Understood.

When the DVR disappears, try to open the DVR’s web UI and uncheck the bonjour checkbox and then recheck it. See if that makes it reappear instantly or not.

Another thing that would be useful… find the IP address of your Apple TV. You can use that to visit http://x.x.x.x:57000/log (replace x.x.x.x with the IP) whenever the app is active on screen to download it’s log.

Next time you go to the TV and its not showing your DVR, visit that url and file>save the log and email to [email protected]

Will do and let you know later this week. Thanks for all your prompt help.

Thanks. A pic of what the screen shows (or the exact error message shown) would also be helpful.

If you have an Android or iOS phone, try downloading the Bonjour Browser app to see if it shows your DVR under _channels_dvr in the list

Unchecking bonjour Made a big difference for me!

Thanks

Here is the screen.

And I have emailed over the LOG file for the Apple TV.

Again, works great and leave for a long period of the time (Client still running on other computer) and get this screen.

Hmm, doesn’t Apple TV need this?

Thanks for the Log. It shows it tried to connect to http://192.168.1.14:8089 but that didn’t work. Is that the correct IP for your DVR PC? Or did the IP change?

Can you paste http://127.0.0.1:8089/bonjour from your PC

Can we leave Bonjour unchecked permanently?

No you were supposed to uncheck and recheck it.

Yes. 192.168.1.14 is my DVR laptop address. I have all the sleep mode stuff tuned off, it seems it may be going to sleep? I have no clue.

What are you doing to make it work again?

Last time I rebooted my wireless router.

So my father-in-law turned off my laptop, so that tells us a lot. I’m going to observe from here and see if it happens again and post up the new log.
