DVR picking distant NBC affiliate after HDHR IP change

I live west of Washington DC, 4.1 is my local NBC affiliate. The DVR has started trying to record from NBC 8.1 (Richmond, 100+ miles away), which fails due to weak signal. I'd like to know how to correct this, and even better prevent recording from either 8.1 or 2.1 (Baltimore).

I'm pretty sure this started over the weekend when I updated my network and the IP for most devices changed, including the HDHR and Mac hosting the DVR. Everything had been flawless for a few years before that.

On my.hdhomerun.com you can click the star next to the weak channels until it turns into an X. That way the channel will never be used for live tv or recording.

Or you can favorite the channels which work well on your DVR, since favs always are preferred when making recordings.

Edit 1: Over night the airings corrected themselves, I'm not seeing Xed channels when searching for showings now.

Thanks. The season passes for nightly news are still showing as picking from 8.1 (no option for multiple channels). It looks like the first new airing is on 8.1 at 6:30, while 2.1 and 4.1 air at 7:00.

The locals were already favorited (DVR and HDHR). I did X out the undesired stations. At some point I had mapped stations in the DVR like 2.1 -> 4.1 Most were still like that, except 8.1, mapping that didn't seem to fix the pass either.

Edit 2: My take away is that X blocks the channel. Heart 'prefers' a channel, but earlier airing time (and maybe others) can override the preference.

On the DVR web UI you can also edit the pass and put a channel number in.
