I run channels on a windows machine that's sits in the basement. My main computer runs linux mint. When I try to open a video on mint in a browser (tried several) I just get the cycling circle for web player or full player. Well vlc to the rescue, right? Okay, I set VLC as the preferred video playback, and when I use the command 'xdg-open some.mp4' it works perfectly on the local machine - vlc pops up and plays the file. When I select vlc from the drop down in channels, the xdg-open command does nothing. Is this because it's not getting the correct media streaming command to play the remote file?
